Overcoming the World

1 John 5:1-5 (NLT)

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments. Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

In verse 4, John talks about our victory and how we overcome the world. Revelation 12:11 says that when the time comes for Satan to be thrown down, it will be said of the followers of Jesus Christ that we overcame Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
The word testimony, as used in scripture, refers to our own personal story about our relationship with Jesus. it is truth and no one can challenge it because it is our own personal experience with our Savior. It might be the story of  how we came to know Him or how He has taken care of us. it also could be a story of how we have trusted Him or suffered for Him. Our testimony is the story of our faith journey.
Write a prayer asking God to give you opportunities to share your testimony.
