Deuteronomy 4:26-31New Living Translation (NLT)26 “Today I call on heaven and earth as witnesses against you. If you break my covenant, you will quickly disappear from the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy. You will live there only a short time; then you will be utterly destroyed. 27 For the Lord will scatter you among the nations, where only a few of you will survive. 28 There, in a foreign land, you will worship idols made from wood and stone—gods that neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. 29 But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.30 “In the distant future, when you are suffering all these things, you will finally return to the Lord your God and listen to what he tells you. 31 For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the solemn covenant he made with your ancestors.
In these verses, Moses promises Israel certain punishment if they abandon his covenant. He speaks of how quickly they will turn and worship false gods. But then v.29 "From there you will search again for the LORD your God. And if you search for Him with all your heart and soul, you will find him." From wherever we find ourselves, we can seek HIM and know we will find HIM. HE is the GOD of 2nd chances. v.31...HE will not abandon, destroy, or forget. Circumstances that threaten to destroy the things of this world cannot destroy our souls.
When was the last time we sought HIM with all our heart and soul? What idols have crept in and taken HIS place in our lives? Is. 55:6 "Seek the LORD while he may be found." Have we sought HIM for the salvation of our very souls? This is the most important seeking! These are hard questions to ask ourselves. However, the new year is a wonderful time to change our heart's direction, gain fresh focus, seek HIM-like the wise men sought the Christ child. Let's stop right where we are and seek HIM today!

I find lately I only seek him with all my heart and soul when things are bad. When things are going good I just thank him nightly and go on with life. Thanks for posting this
