Sabbath Rest

Revelation 21:3

English Standard Version (ESV)
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

I looked up SABBATH in the Holman Bible Dictionary: Day of rest, considered holy to God by His rest on the seventh day after creation and viewed as a sign of the covenant relation between God and His people and of the eternal rest He has promised them. Thinking of this covenant relationship we have through Christ Jesus that guarantees our eternity with Him is so very comforting and thrilling. It should excite us to think of our eternal home in the presence of our Lord. From the garden to the cross to the return of Jesus for His bride to the New Jerusalem, His plan has always been for us to enjoy eternal rest with Him. As Hebrews 4:9 states, "there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God." It is certain! The Sons of Korah longed for his presence in Ps. 84:2 "My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD..." and then in verse 10, "For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere." Let us pause and feed the longing of our hearts today!
