Genesis 2:2-3 (NLT)
2 On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.
Recently, a friend made this statement, "Sometimes the most Godly thing you can do is take a nap!" It's true isn't it! We need rest. When we lose sleep, we tend to lose focus. We become sluggish during the day and we aren't able to do things that need to be done. We become grumpy. Eventually, lack of rest can lead to illness. It seems like when we start falling behind, the first thing we give up is rest in order to get all those things done. I thought it might do us all some good if I listed some verses about rest. I hope these are just the medicine you need to remind you how important it is to take time to rest.
Psalm 23:2 (NLT)
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
Psalm 23:2 (NLT)
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
Psalm 121:4 (NLT)
4 Indeed, he who watches over Israel
never slumbers or sleeps. (He's awake; you can rest!)
Psalm 121:4 (NLT)
4 Indeed, he who watches over Israel
never slumbers or sleeps. (He's awake; you can rest!)
never slumbers or sleeps. (He's awake; you can rest!)
Psalm 127:2 (NLT)
2 It is useless for you to work so hard
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones.
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones.
